All of us who are part of the Pere Closa Private Foundation dedicate our efforts and hopes to working for the training and promotion of the Roma people in Catalonia. At the same time, we work to enhance the positive image of the Roma people, preserve their rich cultural legacy and make it known to the rest of society. We are a non-profit Roma organisation that works in different locations in Catalonia to promote the school success of Roma children and young people, promote their personal growth and improve the family and community environment so that they have the maximum opportunities and the highest possible quality of life. We understand the importance of offering educational support and emotional accompaniment to children and young people to overcome situations of initial inequality, and that of knowing how to recognize the different obstacles that appear day by day in their lives.
Through our work we fight against discrimination in the field of education and public services, to break stereotypes regarding the Roma people and to promote the social transformation of the environments closest to young people and children. We also want to teach young people that Roma cannot be an obstacle to their personal growth. Quite the opposite. In short, we need to normalise the Roma presence in the classroom. In the same way, we also work to disseminate Roma culture, understanding its value within the cultural mosaic that is our country and to offer a positive image of the cultural legacy of our people.
